I was able to plug it in and drive it across the country straight away. Then later I hid all the wires. The rear camshaft cable is very short, I ran the cable from the center of the windshield to the center of the rear window and tucked it under the padding and that was enough for me. If I had had an extended booth with a full door, it would not have arrived. I don't understand how they expect you to install a rear view camera. I wouldn't put it on the outside of the car because it doesn't look waterproof. But how do you want to fix that? So I took the L-Bracket and command bar and attached it to the rear window. I cut off one side of the L bracket so it sits higher on the window. I didn't plug it into the fuse box, I just left it plugged into the outlet. My F150 has 4. I use the default park mode and it turns on when I slam the door. Overall I really like this DVR.
