I'm glad I learned how to connect my new Macbook Pro (with four Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports) to my LCD monitor via HDMI more directly than one of those USB hubs. The cable won't hot and renders adequately on my LCD monitor. The only personal observation I'll share on this is that for some reason it only works with 3 of the 4 Thunderbolt3/USB-C ports on my Macbook. It consistently won't accept video from a specific port on my laptop. Neither Apple reps nor I understand why, but I breathed a sigh of relief to learn that this isn't an issue with any of my Macbook ports. which I have ALL subsequently tested at the Apple Store (for video and USB storage/data) After making sure there are no faulty hardware/connectors on my Macbook, I continue to happily use this cable for my desktop monitor.
