We recently went to Alaska and took it with me. It was perfect for layering when it was chilly. Haven't worn it in very cold weather so can't comment on that but we took the helicopter to the glacier, I had another layer underneath and it was perfect. I keep it in my backpack on all our hikes so I can get it when it gets cold. It will definitely be in my bag on all my travels and will probably be used all year round. I looked at a lot of jackets, wanted something warm, hooded, waterproof/rainproof and not super expensive. After trying many, I felt it was best to choose a trusted name. It fits and it looks great too.
