Cudy Windows Driver Erratic

This is a good high performance WIFI USB device. On USB 3.0 I was able to upload/download 400/500 Mbit/s without any problems. Big NOTE. The CUDY driver is very unstable. It's fast but crashes from time to time, doesn't always restart when the laptop wakes up from sleep, and sometimes you have to disconnect/reconnect the WIFI module for it to start. (or reboot) Latest CUDY driver is from 2017 (from manufacturer's website). Instead, go to the Realtek website and download the RTL8812AU driver (dated 2019). They fixed all these errors and it is reliable and works with all of the above. Conditions. It's also a bit slower than the CUDY driver, now I'm getting 300/400Mbps, but I should have a stable WiFi connection. Another bug in the CUDY driver: If you connect VNC to a computer with a CUDY driver, you will freeze for 15-20 seconds every time Windows opens an explorer window. (Some incompatibility with driver and VNC (all versions of vnc, RealVNC, ightVNC, etc.)) Switch to Realtek driver and it should work. CUDY really needs to re-release its driver based on the 2019 version of Realtek.BobM

Pros
  • USB Network Adapter
Cons
  • So far so good
