One of our cars doesn't power the cigarette lighter when it's off so it's not a problem but our old car still runs on battery power. So this problem will not be a problem for everyone. Nevertheless, we like to hide it in secret to deter burglars. I also like that you can use the buttons to switch tracks, control the volume, and answer calls. And the fact that you can get and plug into a phone charger (not included) also helps, so not only does it NOT use your phone's battery when you play, it actually charges it. The stereo system is a bit quieter, but loud enough for our needs. Tip: Tune one of your car stereos to the frequency of your station so you don't have to turn the tuner or repeatedly click it every time you switch between your car stereo and the station. We love this thing and have bought one for every car.
