When you're done drilling, it's not so bad

Today's modern cars are expected to come standard with features like parking sensors. The Toyota 4Runner is one of the few exceptions. Installed this kit on my 2018 Toyota 4Runner. Drilling aside, this is as easy as any other modification/upgrade you can do to your car. Feeding and hiding the wiring under the car was hassle-free, and connecting to the correct wiring was as easy as a quick Google search. If you don't have a lift, most of the work will be done under the car, so be prepared. The sensors appear to be sensitive in certain spots, with a solid tone (red warning) appearing at 12 inches. That sensitivity works exceptionally well for me, even with the ball set in my clutch. I placed the sensors where I thought they would be useful, ignoring the intervals recommended in the minimum included instructions (a small piece of paper). I found my placement to be perfect (I've been keeping an eye on the powerband in the manual), with the possibility of planned chassis changes that I will make before the end of the year. I added a silicon bead around each sensor to keep them safe for a long time and also to keep water out where it shouldn't. Tools required: Drill (required drill included) Flathead screwdriver (for removing sensors if you need to make adjustments) Wire strippers Soldering iron (if you plan on soldering splices) Panel tools Electrical tape or shrink silicone Installation took 30 minutes from start to finish . I was well prepared and had a plan.
