
So I bought these hoping to use them for soil or compost and I couldn't find any info on how many gallons/liters in a bag would fit. So I took my own measurements using a white bag and a 7 gallon felt grow bag. I filled a white bag with new wonderful potting soil and only filled it enough to tie a string and seal the bag. There's a hole in there for the rope to go through, so you don't want to fill in that line. As far as I know, the top of the bag cannot be used for filling. So when I untied the bag and poured it into an empty 7 gallon felt bag, it filled 8 of the bag's 12 inch height. 3/4 filled. That means the white bag contains about 5 1/4 gallons (5.25) of soil. There were no leaks and I had 20 or 21 bags in my backpack so it fit the description. But I'm wondering if the claimed 50 pounds of sand is listed? Is the sack full and not tied? Hope this helps other people.
