great price and quality!

I bought this (red and gray for 2 people) for solo hikes rather than lugging around my amazing and comfy REI Half Dome due to the almost 2.5lb weight difference. Just spent my first night in it and the temperature dropped to the mid 30s Fahrenheit, there was only light rain (in the desert so no chance to look for condensation) and there was about 30mph winds gusting in excess of 45 Miles per hour and the tent was usually secured with 9 of the 11 pegs provided and was very strong. In the image provided you can see these winds coming from the right. Since the sides are slightly curved I was worried that high winds would rob me of the little remaining headroom, but as you can see it wasn't too bad. The only movement during the night came from the ventilation flap in the back (front and middle picture). I tried using a 9th tenon pull to minimize this and I think it was perfectly acceptable. It used to be "common knowledge" or at least a clichΓ© that goods from China were always of inferior quality and materials, but I am really excited about this tent. I believe one of their other models has a small bar to make the side panels more vertical, which is about the only improvement I can think of. Other reviews have noted that water can get into the vestibule and through the mesh into your tent when the rain door is opened and I can see how this can and does happen. A small price I think. Keep a headscarf with you so you can dry it if necessary. At this price and quality I would recommend to any solo player 6ft or under as well as any new couple who are still genuinely in love and don't have a lot of gear together or have a sense of separation. Places as this is a 1.5 man tent especially with sloping sides. Hope that helps!

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
