Mainly plastic: tires and wheels

This is plastic, mainly composite. Maybe you have an opinion on this? So, my rating, my opinion. I'll start with the engine. This is not a compact unit. Good choice, with big ones. Good design with the possibility of long-term use at high temperatures. This engine drives a pair of connecting rods that move 1" pistons with their 1/2" stroke. The bars are well formed but compound. Good to know the connecting rods have a stamped steel roller bearing that connects them to a metal flywheel. The pin bearing was not checked. The piston has a metallic look and is made of the same material as the flywheel. A steel sleeve is pressed into the composite structure of the cylinder. If the warranty hasn't expired, I'll take a look at the rings. So double cylinders have a connecting chamber with a connecting seam. The pressure in the chamber is measured with a manometer, which I would rate as very accurate. When the device is switched on, the sensor is animated. The display is a 0.5 inch blue backlit LCD. No problem reading. Adjust the pressure before or after mounting the tire. In any case, you can read the current pressure before you start the engine. If the tire pressure is higher than the compressor setpoint, the pump will NOT operate. I lowered my unit to 55psi and inflated 15" LT tires on my Wrangler. Does the job very well. I wouldn't expect to fill a 40 gallon tank over 40psi. The toughest job so far was the spare tire for the Wrangler. It will look and feel good at less than 20psi and fill it up to 45, which got me thinking about a compact replacement with a recommended 60psi level. The auto shut off works well on small bike tires with high pressure. Indicates much higher pressure immediately after shutdown. Past experience says it adjusts to within a few psi of your set point. The only thing I missed about the compressor was the cable. Measure what length you need. Answer yourself. I have an old jumppack. I use the power connector it has. Two piece but it gets power right where I want to put it. I can't imagine finding a less expensive pump with a durability that matches what I've come to expect from this device. I have a cheaper block. It came with a jump pack and cost $45. This pump is my functional replacement for this one. Remember that this device is made of plastic. It is all the more important to handle it carefully, especially at low temperatures. I learned a thing or two trying to plug it into a car outlet. As the pressure increased, the speed of the pump slowed. Mine came with an outlet connected to the battery terminals. Use it! That's where I would start. If you've blown a circuit fuse, this is still an option. Another FYI. Most power connections are protected by a 10A fuse. The measured current is about 12A. The tire pressure was 40 PSI. So far happy with the purchase. At 6 months I noticed the absence of a rubber foot.
