My friend has a large yard and although he put up a fence to keep my 3 dogs inside, the little one walked right under it in places and ran down the street. I installed this system and after 4 hits it has no interest in trying to escape. I live in the Seattle area so the ground is usually wet so I didn't ground it. However, by the time I finished mounting it, it was dry season. So I wet it and it worked. I also stopped her when she tried to run somewhere else until it shocked her because she was able to get away so fast the current didn't have time to fully flow. It may sound cruel, but being hit by a car would be far worse. I always try training methods on myself in front of my dogs and the shock wasn't too great, in moderation. Now she can enjoy a big garden and be safe. I am very happy with the results! I bought insulated wire from a local hardware store to go outside from the mated part in the garage and bought extra polyester wire. Since I had about 800 feet or so to walk, I used electrical insulators for the fence poles, some of which I bought online and some locally. I used goal posts and it worked really well. I didn't have to remove any leaves from it, it seems to work fine with all that foliage, although I haven't even plugged it in lately as it didn't match. It's so nice to see my little dog run. around the yard and play. She's excited now! Thank you Zaraba!
