Review on 8-Piece Compression Tester Set for Petrol Gas Engines – Cylinder Pressure Gauge Kit by Paul Varnado

Very disappointed with this product. The 30 day period is up so getting it back won't be easy and it will literally give you different readings for the same cylinder no matter how many times you try. It also fell apart at the meter connector and I had to reattach and fix it. I just can't believe this is being marketed as the accurate product for someone testing something as important as a car or tractor engine. I used it as a spare pressure gauge at my second store as I don't have my brand gauge at both stores. Unfortunately at this point it will be thrown away unless the seller gives me something back or accepts the return. Please do yourself a favor and buy a much better branded tester, even if it costs you a lot more money. What's the point of using a product that can show you that you have a dead or dying cylinder when in reality it is fine or acceptable and shows either a good cylinder or acceptable readings on one and actually cracked rings, cracked piston or has hollowed out sleeves/drills, (see photo attached)! This gave an acceptable reading, which is clearly impossible, so the gauge is junk. Please look at the attached picture! This cylinder and piston showed 100psi within acceptable specs for an Allis Chalmers engine I was working on. I realized something was wrong when all 4 cylinders showed the same readings. In my more than 30 years of professional and amateur career as a small engine/agricultural mechanic, I have never had all 4 cylinders read the same and then the next test another reading was 30-50% different. Very defective item. If you see this picture where the piston and bore should read 0 psi and nothing else, period!
