Review on Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1500 Color Duplex Document Scanner with Touch Screen - White Model (2020 Release) for Mac and PC by Joseph Elvis

At first I was hesitant to buy this as an upgrade from a previous ix500. There are so many negative reviews about the user interface, operation, etc. However, I liked the wireless feature, so it's easy to share with family members. Conclusion: This is an amazing product. I am a computer scientist, an engineer by profession. I didn't "get" the new UI for about 30 minutes, but after a little work I'm very happy with the result. Yes, if you only scan one type of document all day, it takes two button presses to execute instead of one on the old 500. But I don't just scan one type of document. I have many different requirements, from photos to photo duplex (for handwriting on the back) to color magazine pages, and lately I've been scanning tons and tons of family history data. Reviews of my father's work from the 1940's are in color JPG, his CV works great in color PDF, old photos I take in JPG to print double sided, and there are newspaper clippings (single sided), programs for banquets and such many different things to scan. .The ability to do this on the scanner is a huge time saver; otherwise I had to reconfigure the JAR key or make other changes to the computer before doing any kind of scan. So much so that I've grouped document types by type and lost the timeline of parts in the past. Now, with the ix1500, I can stay at the scanner (most of the time) and just select the scan type on the touchscreen and get on with my work. The key is to take a few minutes and predefine these "profiles" according to your usage. I've identified about 12 of these with different color variations, b&w only, greyscale, duplex, simplex, PDF, OCR PDF, JPEG and resolution combinations. Now I can work with what comes next mostly from the scanner. Yes, it's a UI change. I think that's a good change. For those opposed to the change, I believe Fujistsu released the old Scan Snap Manager software to work with the product for those who prefer the old ways. I was almost there before unleashing the power of the new software.
