Review on 🚴 Sportout Copper Alloy Bike Bell: Classic, Loud Sound Ring for Road, Mountain, City, Sports, Cruiser & BMX Bikes by Chris Budenski

Very nicely made bell

I have a few bells on different bikes but this one is very nicely made with a plastic strap that wraps around the handlebars without scratching them. The bell itself is small but makes a loud, shrill "peeennnngggg" sound when the trigger is released. It's fairly easy to install, you just need to make sure the captive nut for the mounting screw is properly oriented. I dropped my bell and the nut moved sideways a bit and didn't want to line up with the screw until I used a small screwdriver to press it back into place. Also, the firing pin for the bell attaches to the clamp itself, 90 degrees from the bell. You pull it back, and when you release it, the spring pushes it against the wall of the bell. So if the clamp is too tight, the firing pin will not touch the bell when released and the bell will not make a sound. It turned out that the diameter of the handlebars on one of my bikes is slightly smaller where the bell is placed, and the bell didn't ring at first, although nothing seemed to happen to the bell itself. I solved this problem. Cut a small piece of the old inner tube and wrap it around the handlebars under the bell clamp. This provided enough extra diameter for the bell to function properly. I have two of these bells on two different bikes and this is my favorite design at the moment so will continue to buy this brand for the rest of my days. Cycles.
