Review on Enhance Your In-Car Control with Metra Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Interface by Adam Nelson

The steering wheel controls worked fine when I brought the car home

I ordered this steering wheel controls with a new Pioneer double din radio for my 2005 Nissan Xterra. I installed it professionally at a very reputable shop near me, along with Apple CarPlay, an XM antenna and a backup camera. The steering wheel controls worked well when I was driving the car home and finished work later that evening. The next morning they were working without any tweaks or changes. This intermittent behavior continued for the next 3 days until I returned from an out of town trip. I took my car to the installer in the car stereo this morning and had them check the connections and settings, they found nothing. Questions. With the dashboard still disassembled, I decided to remove this unit and install a control unit on the higher level steering wheel. The new unit cost $99, which was a no-brainer considering how much I spent on all the hardware plus installation costs. Obviously it doesn't have to be a bad product to get an average 4 star rating. I don't know if it works better on some car models or not, or on newer cars compared to older ones (mine is 13 years old). Do your research and make up your own mind and also buy from a reputable place like Revain so you can return it if needed.
