Review on Broan-Nutone 744LED 75-Watt Recessed Bathroom Lighting by Flocka Parsons

Uncleanable, poor performance (installed 7 years ago)

I have been installing this fan/light combo for several years now. From an aesthetic point of view, it looks great. I love the look of a simple recessed light above the tub/shower in the bathroom. However, this fan just didn't work well. My bathroom is small, 5 x 8 x 8 feet, and according to the CFM calculations I found online, it should be more than enough. It was not. The poor performance was noticeable almost from the start. He could hold a piece of toilet paper up to the hole, but he just didn't ventilate the bathroom well. My channel is 4 feet long with two 45 degree elbows. When the bathroom door is closed and the shower is running, moisture collects on the walls around the tub and begins to run down the wall. Also, as another reviewer noted, it's nearly impossible to clean the fan. The case that houses the light is accessible, but due to the size of the opening and other "things (like wires, metal protrusions)" inside the case, it's really hard to clean. The blower/fan part is not accessible so it has become clogged over the years and has certainly affected performance. If I had known about the cleaning problem, I would not have bought this combination of fan and light. The performance issue was unpredictable, but just as disappointing. Our bathroom is being renovated and we will be replacing this unit with a traditional moisture proof lamp above the bath and a separate extractor fan in the center of the ceiling.
