We need a retractable gate for the base of our staircase in a small entryway. Obviously such gates are used to keep pets and children. The materials must be strong enough to withstand such use. Two problems. Initially, the lock began to back up within a week. It stays in the locked position and the fabric moves. Tissue is sometimes blocked in the unlocked position. In each of these cases, when you try to turn the lock and figure it out, it doesn't go up or down. It takes some time to turn the mechanism back on and fix it. Not ideal if you are on the stairs with a child or two. The second problem is the hardware. They are plastic and should be thick metal. 3 weeks have passed, yesterday one broke, today another broke. I don't know where the spare parts are, but to be honest we won't be needing them any time soon. Basically, we can't even lock the goal now, and even when we could, it still caused us problems at times. I wanted to like it but the quality is not the same.
