I almost returned this unit defective but found later that if you give it enough time to install (10-20 minutes) it is accurate. probe attachment problem. Due to the relatively large mass of the metal, it has a large thermal time constant and the metal itself must equilibrate with the ambient temperature before the sensor can equilibrate. The sensor is mounted on the end of a metal extension and I bet. that if the probe were made of some sort of plastic composite, the settling time would be much shorter. If the device had leveled off faster I would have given it five stars, but given the price I can't hit it too hard.
