I have a grandson who is reaching an age where he thinks he can do almost anything, scratches and dents prove that's not true. So far he hasn't done any serious harm but that doesn't mean he won't as he decides to do bolder and braver things like all kids do. This gear set prevents the worst and most minor annoyances, so all that remains is to make sure he wears it, and the fact of the matter is that this set is a lot cheaper than a trip to the ER or doctor. in the box, hence the 5 stars from me.
