It's like not having a lens at all

It's so small and light. it's like no lens at all. Weighing in at 85g, this is the perfect lens for a mirrorless camera. Why buy the rx1 when you can put this lens on the a7ii for a lot less and there are plenty of other lens options. This lens is used 75% of the time on my camera. I sometimes stuff my A7ii with this lens in a jacket pocket or short cargo pocket. I can't do that with any other lens or full frame ILC. My specimen is very sharp, even sharper than the Sony 50mm 1.8 and much sharper than the kit lens. AF is quieter than that of 50mm 1.4 AF and there is less roaming. It's still not the best option for videos. For the price, this lens is fantastic. Even at f/2.8 you can still get a nice background blur (bokeh) as you get closer to the subject. I think everyone with an A7 series camera should have this lens. The Sony 28 f/2 is the only lens that compares in price, but it's twice the size/weight and almost twice the price. The Sony 28 f/2 is better for video with faster, quieter autofocus. If autofocus and that extra speed is more important than size, I'd go with the 28mm and drop this lens. If you want the size and the focal length, the Sony Ziess version is a little sharper, quieter and a little better with autofocus for triple the price. For full-frame amateur photographers, this Samyang is 90% cheaper than the Ziess at 1/3 the price.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • So far so good
