So it's a cheap, small (485/422) serial to USB converter. It can even be opto-isolated. I love how you can see inside the case! It has power, red TX and RX LEDs. Using Modbus Poll I was able to get this thing up and running at 9600 bps straight away. This is NOT for RS-232 which I don't need for my purposes. I find it a bit cheaply built. I'm afraid the clear sleeve will tear in my dirty tool bag, so I put it in the shipping box first. Also, the terminal block is not removable, so don't trip over the Modbus cable! It also seems that the terminal block gets old very quickly, especially if you over-tighten the screws. IDK, I have a feeling it will fail one day. It's also MUCH more portable than my other chunky adapter.
