I was at a construction site and my old RS-485 converter broke. I ordered it as a quick replacement and it works perfectly. It's still in my holdall.

Ready to use. I was able to characterize a poorly documented ModBus relay module without the added complexity of an RS485 interface solution. Windows 10 found the required driver automatically.

Does what it says on the tin. The case is of poor quality and torn at the seam. The screw terminals are smaller than most terminal screwdrivers so having a dedicated screwdriver for them adds to the tools I use in the field. I would buy again but I believe there are better options but better options cost more.

This works as expected. I used it to program a Whelen MPC01 controller via serial communication. The blue wire goes to tx+ and the gray wire goes to tx-. also grounding on USB to 12V-. I used the CD that came with it to install the driver on a Windows 7 laptop and it worked great.

So it's a cheap, small (485/422) serial to USB converter. It can even be opto-isolated. I love how you can see inside the case! It has power, red TX and RX LEDs. Using Modbus Poll I was able to get this thing up and running at 9600 bps straight away. This is NOT for RS-232 which I don't need for my purposes. I find it a bit cheaply built. I'm afraid the clear sleeve will tear in my dirty tool bag, so I put it in the shipping box first. Also, the terminal block is not removable, so don't trip…
