I bought these to relieve some of the pain I was getting from grinding my teeth. I chose this guard because it was less bulky for my mouth than the others. Initially I felt some relief from my jaw pain with this protection. Every morning when I woke up I noticed that my bite had changed in the first few minutes after taking it out. After two months of use (btw the mouthguard didn't hold up very well - I doubt it would last another month) my bite changed significantly after each night and took hours to get back to normal. I had more pain in other ways. I spoke to my dentist and they recommended that I purchase another bite guard that would actually disperse the effects of my grinding due to this guard. My grinding was limited to my molars and was causing all this new jaw pain. I now use heat and massage my jaw to ease the pain and I am planning on getting a new night shield which will not cause me any problems long term.
