My first lighter was the best lighter I have ever found until something broke and the lid lift mechanism failed. For about 6 years it always lit the first time and never had to adjust the flame. He maintained the same height and strength of the flame whether it was full or almost empty. I ordered a replacement but received a newer model with a larger dial instead of the original model which I have now ordered TWICE. The new model feels and performs like a cheap imitation of the original. Neither had ever caught fire on the first hit; The flame level will decrease as the tank empties, requiring constant adjustment, and the flame will crackle no matter how much you drain and refill with a different brand of propane.
