Review on Revolutionize Scanning with WizCom QuickLink Pen Handheld Scanner by Brian Olson

Unfortunately it didn't work for me

As a researcher, I spend a lot of time reading and taking notes. So trust me, I REALLY wanted this thing to work for me. It's not like this. First, here's a general point to keep in mind about pen scanners: don't be fooled into thinking you can use them in the same way as a marker. You can't.* You need a flat side with text. Tightly bound books can be a problem because bending the page into the binding can make it difficult to read accurately with a pen; * Jumping and sitting on a bus or train will decrease your accuracy. cannot simply move the stylus line by line of text at high speed. You must move it slowly and with a firm hand; and * You will most likely have to read the article or book you want to read first, and then go back and scan the relevant parts. Trying to use a pen scanner while reading is an exercise that amounts to self-torment. Your ability to enjoy an article or book and follow the story is eroded by the long pauses you take to review relevant parts. My suggestion: read your reading and lightly mark the boxes with a pencil. Then come back later and scan those lines of text (and don't forget to scan the page number at the top first!). Now I move on to the Wizcom Quicklink Pen. I was disappointed with this product and returned it. I had problems with it: 1. Scanning was slow. I ran my pen over a line of text in a book and it only lasted 2-3 seconds. But then I had to wait for the pen to process the text. This added another 5 seconds or so. So when it came to scanning a lot, e.g. For example, scrolling through half a page of text seemed like I was spending quite a bit of time (not to mention fixing bugs, and there were bugs every 4 lines or so). .2. The handle got stuck and stopped working. I can't say why this happened, but I'm assuming it was due to a memory error. I was working on the third or fourth line of a paragraph I was looking at and it just stopped picking up the text. I waited a minute, pressed "exit" - to no avail. Finally I turned it off. Then after waiting a few minutes I tried turning it back on. Do not go. The next morning I turned it on and it worked again. Too bad: I read a lot and wish I had a cheap pen scanner that could absorb text quickly. Well, I'll try a different brand.
