The potential is there, but wait for the next release or two.

I have to give them an A for effort, but this product isn't prime time ready. With a little practice, you can get very good detection, but it's *so* slow that it can't be used. I know you're thinking, "This is really cool, who cares if it's a bit slow - I just want to take a few notes here and there." I thought to myself, but *NO* don't do it. Scanning more than one line is so painful that a paragraph just isn't worth it. I forced myself to use it for a book. I was very motivated and scanned…

Very impressive! for scanner

I'm a student. I have to read a lot and take a lot of notes from the scientific literature. I've only had this scanner for 30 minutes and I'm already in love with it. I found the interface to be very intuitive and easy to use, and the pen connected to my desktop (running Windows 98 2cnd Edition) with no problems. Note. I first disabled Microsoft ActiveSync which I use to sync with my Pocket PC and also told the QuickLink software that came with the scanner NOT to start it automatically when I…

Not perfect, but works

This gadget is not very easy to use. Having used Quicktionary (which has similar processing) before, it was much easier for me. If you are new to this and only try it a few times, you may not get the best results. Technology is everything here. Ideally, you should try it for a few days and patiently follow the instructions. Also, I already had experience with OCR, which means that after many attempts to recognize text pages with OCR software, I was somewhat used to checking and correcting many…

Just what I need

I just received a QuickLink pen and am getting 99-100% accuracy right out of the box. QuickLink meets my expectations 100% and I am completely satisfied with this little gadget. I bought this pen for writing research papers. This allows me to scan excerpts from help articles and books, which saves me a lot of time re-reading and manually entering data later. Pen and I can't understand why others have so many problems. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when using this pen: (1) It…

Unfortunately it didn't work for me

As a researcher, I spend a lot of time reading and taking notes. So trust me, I REALLY wanted this thing to work for me. It's not like this. First, here's a general point to keep in mind about pen scanners: don't be fooled into thinking you can use them in the same way as a marker. You can't.* You need a flat side with text. Tightly bound books can be a problem because bending the page into the binding can make it difficult to read accurately with a pen; * Jumping and sitting on a bus or train…
