Review on Revolutionize Scanning with WizCom QuickLink Pen Handheld Scanner by Ruben Saunders

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The potential is there, but wait for the next release or two.

I have to give them an A for effort, but this product isn't prime time ready. With a little practice, you can get very good detection, but it's *so* slow that it can't be used. I know you're thinking, "This is really cool, who cares if it's a bit slow - I just want to take a few notes here and there." I thought to myself, but *NO* don't do it. Scanning more than one line is so painful that a paragraph just isn't worth it. I forced myself to use it for a book. I was very motivated and scanned almost anything I wanted with 98% accuracy. but I wouldn't do it again. it's just too painful. The user interface, while interesting, is also too limited. You either have to create a new "file" for each scanning session (difficult to manage) or laboriously scroll down the text each time you turn it on (as is often the case with heavy use). I really think it will be a killer tool if it can scan with continuous detection. and maybe a few lines at a time so you don't have to be so specific. (OCR can figure it out). I'm selling mine on ebay and will check again in a year or two. Pat Niemeyer
