Review on Revolutionize Scanning with WizCom QuickLink Pen Handheld Scanner by David Roberts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Just what I need

I just received a QuickLink pen and am getting 99-100% accuracy right out of the box. QuickLink meets my expectations 100% and I am completely satisfied with this little gadget. I bought this pen for writing research papers. This allows me to scan excerpts from help articles and books, which saves me a lot of time re-reading and manually entering data later. Pen and I can't understand why others have so many problems. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when using this pen: (1) It is not designed to scan entire pages of text. You become very impatient and tired. (2) It takes about 3-4 seconds to scan a line of text, plus another 3-4 seconds to "process" the text. (3) For best results, hold the pen tip at a 90 degree angle. to the side. (4) Move the pen as smoothly as possible without jerking. (5) Hold the text just below the white guidelines printed on the pen tip. Going a little past those lines, the text came out really bad. (6) Avoid stylish or fun fonts. I found this pen to work GREAT with standard fonts like Times New Roman. However, when you scan the fancy "e" and "s" characters, they are often read as "s" and "5". This pen can and will work great for you if you take the time to use it properly and patiently. Therefore, I suggest that it is not used to take notes page by page. It is ideal for capturing fine details. And by the way, it works great with my Palm OS PDA. No additional software is required to transfer notes from my QuickLink to my Sony Clie and I can edit text instantly on the big screen. Hope this will be helpful for some of you! (.)
