I use this for my business to route the signal from my laptop to a projector in the same room when I'm with clients. Been using it all summer so far so good. Twice something went wrong during boot up and I had to turn the whole thing off and on again for both sides to talk to each other. He *definitely* needs line of sight, at least initially. However, once plugged in, there are no hiccups at all. I had no problems when customers were present. You NEED a cable to do this - to power the transmitter. It can't be powered by a laptop (I need to connect mine to an HDMI/USB-C adapter for my 2019 Macbook Pro. It was a little frustrating at first because I was expecting to be truly wireless (which also means no wires me) Towards the end of a one-hour customer meeting, the transmitter also gets quite warm. This is normal for my small office. I wouldn't recommend it for home use though, where it can be left on for hours *might* require some haphazard fiddling to turn it on, and that doesn't suit the woman.
