Considering I have used a blade grinder for the past 2 years I can say this grinder is a lot better. Of course, grinding the beans requires some manual work, but your coffee will taste much better as a result. I haven't traveled with him but I can't imagine it's really a hassle. I would recommend that you use tape to tighten the outer ridge as it has slack which in turn allows you to shred particles of wildly different sizes. I have no problem with too much overflow in the grinding trap. I grind 18g of coffee all the time and work on it pretty quickly, it takes about a minute, a little longer when I stop working my muscles. static which is generated by grinding but is not uncontrolled and the grinder keeps most of the grist in the grinder from grinding in my opinion so I would give it a good shake and tap a few times to get the residue out, after you're done. I can tell you that this gives you the most consistent grind you've ever seen, but it's definitely not all over knife sharpener. I hope this answers some questions that usually go unanswered. These are some of the questions I had when looking for a meat grinder.
