Review on ⚡️ Safety Enhanced: Square Schneider Electric QO120PCAFI Single Pole Circuit Breaker by Greg Anderson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Reliable AFCI combination.

I installed 40 of these in a new 225 amp square QO panel in a single family home in the Bay Area, California in a clean/cool/dry location in March 2018. The house also has new copper plumbing. The fact that everything is new (clean, correct connections with no oxidation, correct separation of device ground and neutral, etc.) probably contributes to my good experience with these devices. Many people who complain that AFCI and/or GFCI are "too sensitive" are probably experiencing the effects of old or improper wiring. So the fact that the units turn off frequently is a possible sign that the problem is with the wiring and not with the AFCI or GFCI units themselves. So far, these blocks are absolutely reliable and have no false positives. Plug-in neutral switches are a good time saver (generally), but these switches take up about 100% more tub space than simple standard switches. If you have a lot of circuits, the gutter area can get quite cluttered with wires. Because these are long-lasting products, I'll be coming back to this review every few years or so to update with notes on long-term reliability. ----- ----- May 2019 The overall experience with these units is excellent. I've installed them on every circuit in the house, even the fridge and washer/dryer circuit. (Old style top loading washer, gas dryer.) The washer fires about every 20 loads, which isn't a big deal for the extra mind it offers. (Not sure if the trip was due to a ground fault or just an overload, probably the former as the washer circuit is connected to a 20A breaker.) Never had a nuisance trip on the fridge circuit. I had a strange incident a few months ago where 3 out of 40 or so individual GFCI switches seemed to trip accidentally. At that time there were no burdens on them and nobody was at home. I can only assume it was some sort of minor power outage that was just within shutdown tolerances for these 3 units but not the others. After the reset I had no more problems.
