Fragile and Awkward

Media could not be loaded. The Umien toilet seat with baby insert is flimsy and does not fit properly on our standard elongated US toilet, although the seller/manufacturer claims it does. The included plastic insert for long thin screws doesn't fit well in the holes. I had to bend the ends a bit to widen the bottom so I could insert the end cap with a small nut. No matter how hard I tightened it to make sure it was snug (trying not to overtighten), the lid still moved. And not just a little jiggle, I mean slide left and right. This may be due to their design, which allows for a universal fit of the loops. A video is attached to show how it fits and wobbles. Not to mention the hinges weren't flush with the toilet because again the plastic insert for the screws didn't fit properly in the holes on our toilet. At first we thought maybe we could do it. no The plastic main seat is thin. It's only 2.25 inches wide and you just don't feel supported when you're sitting. Our old toilet seat was at least 3 inches at its narrowest point and the new one we got to replace this seat is also 3 inches at its narrowest point. I never thought that the width of a toilet seat could make a huge difference, or even 3/4 of an inch. But it is so! There is also the aspect of splash protection. Because this toilet seat was narrower, the inside edge of the toilet itself was right there, so this seat didn't offer much in terms of splash protection. The child seat insert was also poorly constructed and flimsy. You cannot remove the child seat, but you can remove the entire seat if you need to clean it. All you have to do is turn everything over (lid, infant carrier and main toilet seat), press the two plastic buttons on the hinge and pull up. This is likely after wiping the loops that usually collect stray urine if you leave it that long. Getting back to the baby seat inlay, it was designed with a smaller opening, which meant toddlers could do whatever they wanted in the seat without things going down the toilet (which happened in our house with this toilet seat). We're not big people - between 23lbs and 165lbs respectively. This toilet seat was only bought because it was half the price of other seats with a child seat. Mistake. This toilet seat broke miserably and we got it back. I cannot recommend this toilet.
