I've had this for a little over a year and it worked great until it broke. I had this in a 5 gallon tank with a beta fish. I'm working as expected, turning the water off and keeping my fish at optimal temperatures since June 2015. Last weekend I came home to a floating beta and a tank that was as warm as bath water - too high to register on my tank thermometer. The heater light was still on and I assume it has been on continuously for several days. I should have noticed the water evaporating a few days ago but thought my cats were drinking from the back of the tank. Each time I refilled water I gave my fish a little more time as the water temperature dropped and it took me a few days longer to recover and evaporate faster.
