Review on 🎶 External USB Sound Card - CREATIVE Sound BlasterX G6 by Agung Rey ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good value for money, I recommend it.

The old internal PCI-e sound card also died from Creative (R. I. P.), I took this one. The sound pleased, my needs (games / multimedia) completely cover. I must say right away that I don’t rummage in the sound, but, according to my feelings, it is quite detailed and deep. The software has presets-improvers for different categories of multimedia, it looks and sounds interesting, you can play around if you want, but I prefer Direct Mode myself. With this card I use Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm headphones, normal volume even on the "narrow" switch position. In games, I like the sound very much, it depends, of course, on what quality of sound the developers themselves have invested in the game. I won’t say anything about positioning in multiplayer shootouts, I don’t play myself. The headphone jack holds the plug well, if you don't pull the wire too hard. In general, the stray is good, the sound itself is worth the money, but if you take into account the points listed above, it turns out to be a bit expensive. After solving the problems that have arisen, everything is fine

Pros
  • - the sound is excellent, much better than the sound card from Creative that was before - high-quality materials, good assembly - the bottom is covered with rubber, does not slip on the table - there is a volume knob - there are buttons for switching modes, no need to climb to switch through the software - headphone amplification up to 650 ohms, which is enough for almost any headphones (there is a high-low gain switch on the card itself)
Cons
  • - it gets very hot during operation, I don’t know how this affects the service life - on the card there is a connector for a microUSB wire for connecting to a computer, there is a feeling that it can be accidentally broken, but if it stays on the table all the time, then everything will be fine - the volume knob is not very convenient, the adjustment is too discrete (it changes in increments of 2% of the volume in the OS, it would be better to make a purely hardware knob without positions with adjustment at the device level, with a constant volume in the OS) - inconvenient software (at least on Win10, I don't know about other versions) - crooked drivers (again, in Win10), sometimes they don’t pick up the card normally, and it constantly restarts (it is cured by rebooting the OS) - when the computer is turned off, the card does not turn off, but still works and heats up (it is treated by forcibly turning off the power of the ports when turning off in the BIOS, maybe it is possible through the OS, but in Win10 I did not find anything like that in the power settings)
