I used this to record laptop output during exercise. I used it offline (no software installation required) because I didn't want the software to go wrong while learning. I was very satisfied with the clear result of the video. And it was extremely important that the end-to-end video to the projector I was using was of high quality and lag-free. I also connected a wireless microphone to the audio input to record the instructor. It is excellent for the task and the price. The only improvements I would look for are: 1) a clearer indication of when recording is in progress and when not. It flashes green while recording and solid green when not and as an instructor I was focused on other things and one day I forgot and everything turned upside down. 2) It would be very helpful if you could set a file size limit so your video will be split into bite sized chunks. I had 4 hour sessions and our editor struggled when the file sizes got huge. I was glad that the lowest bit rate was still very good quality. It was very important that this worked reliably, as I did several sessions in the class and apart from one operator error as mentioned, everything worked perfectly.
