Review on ๐Ÿ–ง Gigabyte GC-WB300D Wi-Fi Expansion Card Motherboard with Exclusive Bluetooth 4.0 - Enhanced Data Rates of 1Mbps/2Mbps/3Mbps by Jeff Hall

Decent device, best in Computers & Accessories

It does what you expect it to do: good Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at the same time. However, I was a bit disappointed with the use of the port. It occupies at least one internal USB port and one PCIe slot for full functionality. This USB port is used for Bluetooth connectivity and was likely implemented to take advantage of the Windows Bluetooth stack and provide some excess bandwidth. I was hoping this would implement some sort of built-in PCIe USB to save on ports. I think I should have researched more thoroughly. In any case, I'm no worse off than using a PCIe WiFi card and a USB Bluetooth dongle, and might be better for Bluetooth 4.0 someday. With normal use, it also converts another internal USB port into a regular USB-A female port (common USB port outside the computer). However, this ends up inside the computer and will most likely be connected to a USB extension cable to take it outside. Had I known this, I probably would have tried to implement a setup using the laptop's wireless Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card that avoided using anything other than a PCIe slot. I figured someone had finally come up with it and professionally made such a device so I wouldn't have to do a spliced creation. But even then, with enough ports for my peripherals, I see no need to try this, although I'm a bit saddened by the missed opportunity.
