Review on Enhance Your Audio Experience with the ASUS Strix SOAR Sound Card by Micha Dziubiski ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Average product, you can do better.

Apparently most of the reviews are written by people who have switched from built-in sound solutions. I compare with Sound Blaster Z - cards of the same price category. 1. Sound - Creative produces a clear and detailed sound, while on Asus, when shooting from AWP (CS:GO), you hear overload and the software cannot fix this. 2. Volume level - in players, browsers, audio, video, headphones with an amplifier yell loudly, but in some (not all) games you set the sound to 100%, but you hear it at 40% and you can’t make it louder. Creatve in any application gave out prohibitive volume. 3. There is no digital input on the card - Asus engineers said that nobody needs it, but I personally connected a PS4 to it to output sound through a PC (useful for recording videos). Saved $5. 4. Power - I don't know why, but the card needs additional power from the 6pin connector (like on a video card), although Creative also had enough PCI-E when using the backlight. When switching signals from speakers to headphones, the card makes clicks =) Most of all I liked the definition of the positioning of opponents. Steps are really audible very well and with virtual 5.1 they give a clear picture (in games that support 5.1). The software works stably (this was exactly the reason for the refusal of Creative). For the rest, I regret it. The sound is certainly better than in built-in solutions, but for a product of the end of 2022. there were no revolutions.

Pros
  • Stable software, positioning in games.
Cons
  • Sound quality, additional required. power, different volume levels in applications, clicking.

For my money, she suits me, but those 2 shortcomings make me very sad. :(
