Review on 🐠 Two Little Fishies ATLPB4 Phosban 454gm: The Ultimate Phosphate Remover for Aquariums by Rebecca Inman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than Rowaphos, very happy with Phosban

I've been using Rowaphos for years and always thought it had a very short life cycle, so one day I re-read the instructions and realized I was using it incorrectly. I've always rinsed the Rowaphos well with reverse osmosis water to remove all red rust from the backing, but the instructions say it shouldn't be rinsed and that red only stains the water for about a day. Well against my best judgment I went ahead and used it without washing up, what a disaster; The tank blushed for almost 10 days, then red dust remained on everything, I cleaned this crap for a month (and not a single one of my carriers was polished). So I switched to Fosban about 3 months ago :-) Yes, happy joy is happy, it's not wet manure in a jar, but dry grain, and you wash it and leave very little, put it in the reactor and almost nothing goes and the bonus is that the phosphates drop lower than when using Rowa. The thing is great, lasts longer than Rowa and is much easier to handle. I don't know why I ever turned away from Two Little Fish Company when there's one thing I've learned in 20 years of reef aquarium work: Julian Sprang always does good because his name and reputation are worth their weight in gold. The aquatic aquarium world and I doubt they will ever approve a product that doesn't meet the standards.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
