This is a great upgrade to the standard felt mat that comes with the Pro-Ject Debut carbon turntable. It significantly reduces static and muffles most background noise. After switching to Cork It I noticed a noticeable difference in surface noise. A cork mat will help eliminate static pops. Unlike an old felt mat, this cork mat will never stick to vinyl records when you take it off the record. One side of this pad has a cut-out for the record label, which is a nice touch to ensure proper playback. A cork mat has the same weight and thickness as a felt mat, so nothing needs to be adjusted on the turntable.
