They suit my specific needs very well: I have a cat who gets stains on the carpet all the time. I have to squirt a generous amount of urinal remover and then dab the offending material. After the first wipe with paper towels, I apply one of the over-the-spill pads. With high absorbency, they keep the carpet from moisture for a long time. Then I can wash them off and use them again. I don't know how many washes they last, but at least one or two more than paper towels. They are also larger and very easy to use.
