Need a device you only need to plug in occasionally? Disconnecting and reconnecting can wear out the ports and cause inconvenience. This solves both problems and allows the switch to simply save the ports and not have to unplug the cable. I use this for an old mechanical keyboard that sometimes sends keystrokes back to my computer at random times every other day. After uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and fixing various issues, the quickest and easiest solution was to simply disconnect and reconnect the keyboard. This does the same thing, but I just have to flip the switch.
