Review on πŸ’§ Enhance Water Quality with APEC FI PHPLUS QC Carbonate Water Replacement by Jeff Davidson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works and gets the job done

For reference I am using this with an APEC (RO-CTOP) countertop. You have the option of replacing the 4th stage carbon filter with this remineralization module, in this case you will not need any additional hoses; Otherwise you can add it as a 5th stage AFTER the last activated carbon filter. In this case you will need an extra length of tubing to connect the charcoal filter outlet to the remineralizer inlet. the plant produced water with a TDS of 12 ppm (330 ppm from a direct tap) with a pH of 6.4-6.6. After installing the remineralizer, TDS readings were 35-40 ppm at pH 7.0-7.2. API aquarium water test kits (with drippers) were used for this. So it definitely helped make the water neutral or slightly alkaline, giving it a "softer" water feel when drinking. makes sense since this remineralizer only needs to add calcium. Interesting note: I originally tried to be smart and installed it before the last activated carbon filter, hoping to produce mineralized water which is then filtered with activated carbon. It seemed to be working (TDS went up to 35-40ppm) but the water was still acidic. I had a carbon block Culligan filter (replacing that reverse osmosis block) and it never seemed to affect the pH, so I'm not sure why it mattered. In short, yes, this mineralizer works, but you must install it as the LAST step on your system.
