Got this for my 8 lb dog and it works really well. The gate is easy enough to use if you line it up carefully and don't push too hard. The only drawback is the handle, which is made of weak plastic and is used to exert pressure when switching on. I quickly realized that if I tried to install it with too much hand pressure and then tried to snap the handle, it would likely break. The trick is to get it where you want it and let the handle add the rest of the pressure to hold it in place. I would not recommend this more than for a small dog. My kids are 3 and 10 now so they don't care but I can't say it would be a good choice for them once they were able to climb up. It looks like it will be easy for them to climb. finished, but that's because I've seen them tackle harder challenges at that age.
