This type of stand is designed for older vehicles. As modern cars, especially hybrid and electric cars, have more aerodynamic underbody panels, these jacks are an outdated tool. The Toyota Prius owner's manual even states that jacks should only be used at the pressure welds near each wheel well. Use of this stand can cause serious damage to the weld, underbody panels, or the body itself. The design is lazy, do the same thing that has been done for the last hundred years. Progress has overtaken the design of the jack.
