This screw is 3 turns per inch faster than most metal screws. For comparison, Veritas/Lee Valley vise screws have a pitch of 5-6 threads per inch. This greatly affects the speed of movement of the vise. Compared to the Veritas/Lee Valley clamps I use, the build quality seems about the same. I wish the Yost screw had come with mounting hardware. #10 wood screws seem to work just fine, and #12 screws will likely work as well. If you're making a custom vise for your workbench, this is a very good option. Other metal screws of the same price (eg Veritas/Lee Valley) are slower, higher quality metal screws are much more expensive (eg Benchcrafted) and wood screws are also much more expensive. This is a great choice for carpenters on a budget.
