I weigh 129 lbs, 5'4", waist 28". I usually wear size 4 or 6 pants, small or medium depending on the brand. I originally ordered medium and couldn't wear it so changed to large although I never ordered anything large but waist is tiny. Velcro closure and if you leave it open it will snag on any shirt you are wearing and ruin it. I will most likely return it again and order XL which is ridiculous given my actual size. Lining and fit down to the waist. It's really good though - it's snug and protects in all the right places and really helps if you fall on the ice. The waist just needs to be done a lot more and it is desirable that it is an elastic waist (like yoga pants) without velcro.
