Revainrating 2 out of 5

Lasts 1-2 years. Degradation over time in Utah weather.

The product functioned great when new. The learning curve to train dogs to use it is something to be prepared for! Its not quite as intuitive for dogs as I expected (I've trained 3 dogs to use it) From July last year, left it outside on my patio 24/7 for a few months, then brought it inside when the colder months began (around Sept/Oct). After those few months of this use, here's how it held up:- A substantial amount of rust on the edges had formed, no doubt from sitting in the leftover puddles of water it sprays. For something constantly soaking in water, It was cheap to make it from mild steel which will easily rust. The paint does not keep this from happening. A 300 series stainless steel would be a worthwhile upgrade, for a few bucks more in manufacturing (& consumer) cost.- It sticks, and stays on when the dog removes its paw. Not sure if the valve is worn out, or the top metal plate edge is wedging over the bottom one when pressed. Either way, it will often stay on for several seconds. This has gotten progressively worse in this second season of use. It often will stay on for another 10-15 seconds after the dog has left.-Paw image is almost completely worn off, a little black remains with a faint ghost image. (Doesn't bother me, just an observation)Its still in use, and Its still working, but it sticks on more and more and is looking rough. I expect I will toss it sooner than later. Sticking is starting to concern me one day I'll leave to work, my dog will use it, and it will just run water all day.
