I've been living with a noisy hard drive for about a year. Not the end of the world, but annoying. This adapter dampens the drive excellently. The computer now whispers quietly, even when it's next to me. No instructions are provided, but it is quite easy to use. If you're the kind of person who knows enough to look for a 3.5 to 5.25 adapter, you probably won't have a problem installing it. The only problem I had was that my PC case had a "light" 5.25 bar. Drive holder, but the latch only works on the top level of screws on the 5.25 drive. In my experience most true 5.25 drives have 4 screws on each side. This adapter uses only two screws on each side and on the bottom of the 5.25 drive. I was able to work around this, but it only made the installation more difficult. Although I am still completely satisfied with the purchase.
