Wicks are fine. For best results, you must soak for a MINIMUM of 45 minutes. I soaked the first candle for 30 minutes and it didn't work. I soaked the second candle at 50 and it burns. No crackling like Woodwick candles. You need to use 2 for a small candle so the flame is big enough to actually melt the wax because they are so thin. If I had to do it again I would buy from a different brand for this reason. The price is good, but if you have to use 2-4 wicks per candle just to get them burning, they're about as expensive as any other higher quality brand that you don't need to fiddle with to make it work. The seller buys reviews from people by offering them gift certificates for their review, so the buyer needs to be careful.
