Built-in lithium-ion battery works great, ready to use. I believe there should be at least one, if not more, of these 911 and weather stations in the home. I usually use them at night for the radio and also for the weather. Being USB rechargeable, they can be easily plugged into a solar panel for free charging during the day. The price of this model is low and this is reflected in a slightly scruffy feel on the dials, but it still received good reception with some minor tweaks. It may not always support music stations like a low-level device, but the lighting, solar power and crank functions are good. Every night during the winter season, I listen to NOAA's weather forecast.
