We have both reached a stage in life where we no longer have the strength in our hands that we used to enjoy and the pain of arthritis does the grabbing and squeezing of most Can opener unbearable! We tried this battery-powered handheld, which looks ridiculous and costs more than our handheld models and the same as most standalone models, but hooray! We finally have a reliable and painless way to open cans with a clean side cut and no metal shavings. The first few times we used it we were very skeptical as it wobbled and wobbled around the can and thought nothing had happened! Imagine our surprise when we removed it from the jar and with it the lid! A very safe and painless solution.
